WECOEMP REVIEW Issue 2

Welcome to the second issue of the WECOEMP Review. Following the successful launch of the pilot, it has become apparent that women can bring about the change if empowered well.

As in the words of Mr. Søren Pind, Minister for Development Cooperation Denmark; “Women hold the key to development, unleashing women’s potentials, making women masters of their destiny, is the single most important contribution we can make to foster and accelerate growth, giving a strong economic growth”

WECOEMP Review is a sound platform that uplifts women in emerging and developing economies. Its aims and objectives are to build upon the current foundations being set by the global community to ensure women’s equal access to economic resources, including land, credit, science and technology, vocational training, information, communication and markets. This we realise can be achieved through the use of cooperate social responsibilities and the role of the private sector and government in empowering women.

WECOEMP Review has identified key issues and linkages to women empowerment:

• Economic empowerment

• Reproductive, maternal & mortality health

• Educational empowerment

• Political empowerment
